Debris Flow Hazard Warning System (Patent Pending)
Kerr Wood Leidal (KWL) developed a debris flow hazard warning algorithm based on rainfall and hydrometric records for the North Shore of Vancouver, British Columbia.
The system uses real-time data from rainfall stations to calculate a predictive index to warn authorities of when landslides and debris flows are likely to occur. This index is available to authorized personnel through KWL Emerald.
